Dear Vista La Mesa Academy Families,
With great excitement I want to welcome our Cheetah Families to our 2020-2021 school year! My name is Tracie Audifferen (AKA, Mrs. A) and I am your new Principal at Vista La Mesa Academy. For returning families, I realize that I have some pretty big, spirit-filled shoes to fill with the retirement of our beloved Dr. Bonita DeAmicis, but my time spent last year as your Assistant Principal was not only an honor and privilege, but it allowed me the opportunity to witness her leadership first hand and learn from her many years of experience!
I have been a part of the Lemon Grove School District since I moved my young family to San Diego in 1997. I always tell people that Lemon Grove IS my heart! And while my heart is Lemon Grove, my family history and identity is deeply rooted in Hawaii where I was born and raised. I believe in the power of family and that family is the collective of people who believe in you and work to lift you. Family sees you and wants the best for you. You’ll hear me reference our Cheetah Family in that spirit. My goal is for ALL of our students to be empowered and transformed into active agents of their learning, with their school family and home family working together with trust and understanding, secure in the belief that we are all committed to giving our best to our children.
Without a doubt 2020 has created a current reality unlike any other time in our lives. Yet, with all the recent uncertainty, one thing I'm sure of is that with our children at the center of our decisions, the Vista community can create a rich learning experience for our students. One where students feel cared for AND challenged; where rigorous instruction is accessible THROUGH compassionate relationships.

Querida Familia De Vista La Mesa Academy,
Con mucha ilusión quiero darles la bienvenida a nuestras familias de guepardos a nuestro año escolar 2020-2021! Mi nombre es Tracie Audifferen (AKA, Señora. A) y ahora soy la nueva Directora aquí en Vista La Mesa Academy. Para nuestras familias que regresaron, me doy cuenta de que tengo unos zapatos de espíritu bastante grandes para llenar con la jubilación de nuestra amada Dra. Bonita DeAmicis, pero el tiempo que pasé el año pasado como Subdirectora no solo fue un honor y un privilegio, sino que se me permitió la oportunidad de presenciar su liderazgo de primera mano y aprender de sus muchos años de experiencia.
He sido parte del distrito escolar de Lemon Grove desde que mudé a mi joven familia a San Diego en 1997. !Siempre le digo a la gente que Lemon Grove ES mi corazón! Y aunque mi corazón es Lemon Grove, mi historia e identidad familiares están profundamente arraigadas en Hawaii, donde nací y crecí. Creo en el poder de la familia y esa familia es un colectivo de personas que creen en ti y trabajan para elevarte. La familia te ve y quiere lo mejor para ti. Me escucharás hacer referencia a nuestra familia Cheetah con ese espíritu. Mi objetivo es que TODOS nuestros estudiantes se empoderen y se transformen en agentes activos en su aprendizaje, con su familia escolar y su familia en el hogar trabajando juntos con la confianza y comprensión, seguros en la creencia de que todos estamos comprometidos a dar lo mejor de nosotros a nuestros hijos.
Sin duda 2020 ha creado una realidad actual diferente a cualquier otro momento de nuestras vidas. Sin embargo, con la incertidumbre reciente, una cosa de la que estoy segura es que con nuestros niños en el centro de nuestras decisiones, la comunidad de Vista puede crear una rica experiencia de aprendizaje para nuestros estudiantes. Uno donde los estudiantes se sientan cuidados y desafiados: donde la instrucción rigurosa es accesible a través de relaciones apasionadas.
